About Ben
Ben’s career in financial services began in 2002 when he became a paraplanner after several years of living and working in Sydney, Australia. He qualified as a financial planner in 2003, then moved to a larger firm several years later where he continued to gain experience working with private individuals and small to medium-sized business owners.
In 2015, he set up Cactus Financial Planning to work with other professional advisers. He enjoys following investment markets and macroeconomics, and keeps a keen eye on geopolitical issues. He works with other professional advisers to ensure he keeps his tax knowledge updated and relevant.
When Ben isn’t working
Outside of work, you can find Ben playing golf, coaching a local youth football team or squeezing in a weekly gym visit.
Ben’s recently become more interested in gardening, so he’s trying to build his knowledge on what is and isn’t a weed! He also likes to attend a variety of local events such as the literature and jazz festivals.
Keeping it official
Financial Advisers are authorised and Regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) and appear on the FCA Register.
You can view Ben’s entry on the FCA Register by clicking here. The entry for Cactus Financial Planning can be found here.
Furthermore, all financial advisers and planners must hold a valid Statement of Professional Standing. This proves the adviser is qualified to the required standard and undertakes an appropriate amount of Continuous Professional Development each year to ensure his or her knowledge is kept up to date.

A word of warning. In this era of financial scams, beware of taking financial advice from anyone who doesn’t appear on the FCA Register, or hold a valid SPS.
